Great product
They kinda, sorta work. It’s a chore but so are all the other methods I’ve tried. At least they’re simple and don’t require batteries.
My bedroom door wouldn't latch properly, but this strike plate solved it in five minutes. The satin nickel finish matches my existing hardware perfectly, and the fit is precise. It’s a heavy-duty piece of metal that feels very secure once screwed in.
Nice solid striker, less money than the local big box, perfect timing for me. Wasn’t looking for a striker but I saw this on my vine feed. I have a door that has a worn striker (installed 1998 and is our main entry way door) it is so worn that the door has to be closed somewhat forcibly so it catches. No amount of adjusting has helped. The Newlaking kit came with an assortment of dowel pins in case your old screw holes are wallered out or you want to reposition the striker location. It worked perfect for me, matched my existing lock set and all is well with my door now.
I needed this to replace an old gold colored one that was also misaligned. I knew I was going to have to recenter the new hole and needed a longer plate.This one comes with extra wood dowels to glue/fill in the old screw holes, which is nice. Just drill out a big enough hole,glue and tap the dowel in, then cut off the excess.They have also included a handy plastic filler plate for the hole behind the strike plate. This can be good to hide ugly chisel work.Now for the strike plate itself. It is covered with two layers of protective film that you have to remove. The surface is a nice looking satin nickel look. Everything about this kit initially looks great. Until you handle the edges of the strike plate. It is very rough and feels unfinished, almost as if you could get a metal burr or such if not careful. Its really a shame they overlooked this important detail as I feel like it makes this a low quality item, and for this reason I would not purchase it again. I will try to sand the edges to smooth out but not sure it will help.
