Given the unique face plate silhouette, I first needed to refinish the indentations of where the previous square face plate was on our library door. A little wood putty, a light sanding, some paint, and this was ready to install. Yes, it was worth it. It looks amazing! All parts are made of quality materials that feel like they will hold up well against time. The door knob in the photos is the oil-rubbed bronze style, which I love because the finish will continue to wear down from use and look better over time. Since my previous door knob was the same skeleton-key style, installation only took about 15 minutes. I just had to remove the old, slide in the new, and screw everything down. Our old Victorian house has a rather minimal aesthetic and I love how little accents like these can add some character without being over-the-top.

This mortise door knob is gorgeous. Although I'll need to do some touching up around it from where the old one was I don't mind. I wanted to keep some of the original doors in my very old house and wanted to remain true to the era they are from. The original handle was plain and no longer worked well so this elevated the door's appearance and functionality times ten and who doesn't love a skeleton key? (You get three). This is a solid handle that didn't take my husband long to install, again, old house so there were some minor tweaks.
Little smaller than I thought . But good quality and will work for screen door as a dummy doorknob to add flair .
